PUBLIC SERVICES ASSOCIATE, PART-TIME

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park seeks a personable, public service oriented individual to work in their busy Public Services Department. Duties include checking materials in and out, issuing new library cards, assisting patrons in locating books on our shelves and reserving books through interlibrary loans, answering phones, computer assistance, and shelving materials. Additional duties may include supervising volunteers, providing computer assistance to patrons, enforcing library policy, and assisting in other library departments as needed. Must have excellent communication skills, ability to shelve books in proper alphabetical and numerical order, and possess mid-level computer skills.

Hours and Pay:

Starting rate is $16.75 per hour. 20 hours per week. Will be required to work some evenings and rotating Saturdays.

Qualifications:

Applicant must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in customer service preferred. Experience working in a library a plus. Flexibility regarding scheduling a plus. KIDS' LIBRARIAN

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park seeks a creative, energetic, ambitious, and dedicated full-time Kids’ Librarian to plan, direct, and implement all of the Library’s kids’ services. Working with other departments, this position will help create new and exciting kids programs and partnerships as well as develop community-wide collaborations while promoting community awareness of youth services. The Kids’ Librarian is also responsible for preparing, monitoring, and administering the Kids Room budget as well as all collection development, programs, and services as they relate to kids, parents, and teachers of the community.    

QUALIFICATIONS:

•           MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program or other appropriate degree 

•           Public Library experience preferred

•           Experience working with young people preferred

•           Keeps current with library trends and issues in Library service and technology

•           Knowledge of policies, procedures and functions of library systems
